Jean-Pierre Vibert, France, 1843
The translation of the name Précoce means ‘early’, and that is exactly what this rose is; an early blooming variety, with deep pink flowers, sometimes mottled near the edges. The round buds are covered in a somewhat reddish-green moss. The somewhat course foliage is mid-green, leathery and strongly veined with moss at the underside of the leaves and leave stalks.
